History

A Foundation of Experience Launches L-3 ComCept into Leadership Role Leveraging Corporate Advantages

ComCept, Inc. was founded in 1999 with a vision that NCW would revolutionize the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) community. The ComCept founders’ experience, which encompassed more than 150 years with defense contractors and military service, provided the basis for implementing their ideas. Innovative studies, tests, and simulations proved the concepts. An Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration and live-flight testing in Joint Expeditionary Forces Experiment 2004 have successfully carried the vision into the future.

With rapid company growth and outstanding program implementation, ComCept was acquired in 2002 by L-3 Communications Corporation (NYSE: LLL). Headquartered in New York City, L-3 Communications is a leading provider of ISR systems and products, secure communications systems, aircraft modernization, training, and government services. L-3 Communications is a major supplier of high technology products.

The experience base of L-3 ComCept is founded in a management team that has previously demonstrated outstanding performance in managing a $3 billion aircraft systems integration company. Our management and engineering teams have built on this legacy to establish an exemplary track record for development and delivery of innovative high-tech solutions for our customers.

The L-3 ComCept Team is constantly defining and developing network-centric warfare concepts that will facilitate cooperative tasking, collaborative tracking, correlation, and reporting capabilities of platforms and their onboard sensors. To accomplish these feats, we develop advanced systems actions and comprehensive modeling, simulation, and validation techniques that will ultimately result in optimum system solutions.

Our Engineering staff consists of highly trained professionals fully equipped with the latest tools to achieve the myriad of technical challenges faced by industry demands. Our engineering team includes seasoned Systems Engineers, talented Software Engineers, and skilled specialists working together to define our customers’ unique operational requirements. L-3 ComCept’s repertoire of advanced engineering tools includes a comprehensive network of high-end workstations and servers, along with state-of-the-art systems and software development tools. Our tools include Rational Suite (requirements management, allocation, flowdown, and tracking), MATLAB (mathematical modeling and simulation), and other systems development capabilities.

Our systems engineering solutions are also establishing standards for the DoD's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance community’s future warfare techniques.
