President’s Profile

Robert L. Woodson is President of L-3 ComCept, based in Rockwall, Texas, which specializes in sensor networking, data processing and visualization solutions, advanced data analytics and advanced antenna systems.

Prior to his current role, Woodson served as Vice President of Engineering for L-3 Mission Integration in Greenville, Texas, and was directly responsible for Program and Project Engineering technical leadership for all programs, as well as full engineering life-cycle activities of the Systems, Hardware and Software engineering for products developed and maintained in Greenville, and IRAD.

In addition, Woodson has held various positions in engineering during his tenure with Mission Integration. He has created software and served as project and team leader, systems engineer, staff engineer, software engineering product manager, section manager and chief software engineer.

Woodson has over 34 years of technical and management experience across a variety of domestic and international programs and customers. He has performed research in applied physics; algorithm and software design, development, and testing for satellite applications; real-time signal processing, system control and automated testing, and simulation, all for airborne software applications.

He has experience in systems engineering and business development. He also has extensive people and resource management experience that has resulted in successful delivery of all software and hardware products for Mission Integration during the past 14 years.

Woodson received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Jackson State University and pursued postgraduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has also completed the L-3 Mission Integration President’s Leadership Program and the L-3 Corporate Executive Leadership Development Program.

Woodson joined E-Systems in 1987 as an Electronic Systems Engineer and has remained with the Greenville site through its present-day ownership by L-3. He has also held positions as field service software engineer for Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation and Civilian Physicist for the Naval Surface Weapons Center prior to joining Mission Integration.
